Sedgefield Lagoon Mouth is a quiet coastal spot where the Swartvlei River meets the sea. The calm, shallow waters and wide open space make it ideal for stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and easy walks. Surrounded by dunes and coastal forest, it’s a peaceful place that’s especially good for families with small children.

Safety & Lifeguard Information

Lifeguards are present seasonally, typically during peak holiday periods such as the Christmas/December holidays, March school holidays, and the lead-up to Easter when the Swartvlei Estuary is open. *Times may vary. 

Pet & Dog Policy

  • Dogs are not permitted. This is a protected wildlife area.

Activities

  • Water-based: Swimming, fishing, stand up paddle boarding, drifting with the current down the lagoon.

  • Beach-based: Walking, sunbathing, picnicking, beach games.

Tips & Visitor Advice

  • Parking is often very limited during peack holiday times. 

  • Note that the bathrooms may sometimes be locked during off-season.
